Whites + Creams
There’s a reason whites and creams are engagement-session classics. They photograph beautifully, keep the focus on the two of you, and create that effortlessly timeless look.
Think flowing dresses, linen shirts, soft skirts, tailored pieces, or even a simple white top paired with your favorite denim.
Styling tip: If you’re bringing two outfits, I recommend starting with your dressier look and changing into something a little more relaxed and you for the second half of your session.
Browns, Blues + Earthy Neutrals
You truly can’t go wrong with rich browns, soft blues, denim, camel, navy, and other earthy neutrals.
These colors complement almost every St. Louis location and look especially beautiful against greenery, stone architecture, city streets, and golden-hour light.
Instead of trying to match each other perfectly, choose colors that coordinate. Mixing complementary tones, textures, and layers will give your photos more dimension while still feeling cohesive.
Bring a Little Personality
Your engagement photos do not have to look like everyone else’s.
Wear the jerseys. Bring the vintage car. Grab cocktails at your favorite bar. Incorporate your dog, your favorite team, the place you had your first date, or something that feels completely random but completely you.
Some of my favorite galleries happen when couples stop worrying about what an engagement session is “supposed” to look like and make it their own.
Your photos should feel like your relationship — just elevated a little ;)
Make It Feel Like You
The best engagement-session location isn’t necessarily the prettiest place on Pinterest — it’s somewhere that complements your personalities, outfits, and the overall feeling you want your photos to have.
Want romantic and timeless? We can wander through historic architecture and manicured gardens.
Want relaxed and natural? Think open fields, trails, and golden-hour greenery.
Want something editorial and a little different? Let’s head downtown, grab a drink, explore a hotel lobby, or build your session around an activity you actually love doing together.
And if you have absolutely no idea where to go? That’s what I’m here for. Once I know the vibe you’re envisioning, I’ll help you choose a location that photographs beautifully and feels like you.
